Everyone must do this their first day in Chicago!!
07/07/08 • Our guide wonderful. The tour took us through several neighborhoods that we visited again and again while we were in town. The stops were also very unique. You would never visit them on your own. The oil and spice shop were really off the beaten path, but I'm so happy I was introduced to them. I see a long relationship between me and the oil shop. But I loved all of the places. The information that was given to us on the tour was also excellent. I know so much more about Chicago now. I even bought the book "The Devil in the White City" about the World Fair because it was mentioned on the tour. Ending at the chocolate shop was a perfect end to the tour. My friend and I went back every day. The map and coupons were something we used the rest of the trip. I do wish the map was a little more detailed, but we worked it out. I'm looking forward to future taste tours offered by Chicago Food Planet in other neighborhoods until I have eaten everywhere in Chicago. [View here]
A great way to explore Chicago's neighborhoods
07/07/08 • If you are like me, and normally do not enjoy tours, I highly recommend this one. The groups are small and the tour guides are personable and engaging. Walking around, I did not feel like a tourist, only a local walking with a group of friends. All the samples offered were fantastic. Make sure you bring an empty stomach, the portion sizes are huge and a great value for what you pay. [View here]
Go on the first day in town..!
07/07/08 • I wish we would have went on the first day in town because we didn't get a chance to go back to all the shops and cool places we passed along the way. We did our tour on the last day and we had a plane to catch. It was really fun and a great way to see neighborhoods that are not tourist traps. The food was great and the local merchants were pleasant and willingly to share their crafts. I highly recommend doing this tour. [View here]
A must tour for visitors and residents alike!
07/06/08 • This tour was a fabulous experience. I learned things I didn't know about some of the foods and I am a real foodie. The food was interesting, but the real highlight was the information shared along the way regarding the neighborhoods and history and architecture. Our guide was so friendly and enthusiastic, which made the entire experience so much fun. The walk is definitely long so wear comfortable shoes, but it is well worth it! We told our daughter who lives in Chicago that she needs to do this tour soon - it is a great way to introduce oneself to the various neighborhoods. Thanks for a great time! [View here]
Happy and Very Satisfied
07/06/08 • We had a great time on this tour with lots variety that kept it interesting. We had lots of fun on this tour and would recommend it to anyone. We learned a lot of history of Chicago, besides what we learned on the food tour. Our tour guide provided us with lots to think and talk about. We had a great time!!! [View here]
a perfect outdoor activity
07/06/08 • We were in Chicago for a family wedding and had a few hours to fill. The Chicago Food Planet Food Tour was perfect for us (family of four)--it was fun, delicious, informative and a nice way to get a little exercise and meet fellow travelers, see different neighborhoods and to share stories and compare palates. The spice store was the highlight--so very unique... We'd recommend this tour to everyone. [View here]
Fantastic day
07/05/08 • It's hard to tell friends, "Yeah, we walked a couple miles, stopped for tastings and several local businesses, and learned a little history along the way" without their eyes glossing over and them wondering why you blew your money on something so boring. The reality, though, is just the opposite. The tour was the highlight of our day, and we still can't stop talking about the things we saw and did. Our guide was excellent, the shops were delightful, and the day was extraordinarily well-spent. We'd do it again in a heartbeat. [View here]
Walking the walk, talking the talk
07/05/08 • Our tour guide was clear and informative about the sites and the foods she shared with us. We'd recommend the tour and would go back when they develop additional tours. [View here]
Great experience, lots of tastings!
07/05/08 • I have lived in Chicago for two years now and have not had much of a chance to explore much of the areas we toured. But now I have learned so much about local businesses, their history (as well as the history of the neighborhoods), and the bonus were the tastings. There was plenty to eat! I especially loved the sweeter foods. Delicious! Now that I know where everything is, and have tasted it before, I know I will not be disappointed when I go back! Hopefully there will be more tours like these to explore other neighborhoods in Chicago. My cousin loved the event as well and even bought a lot of items from the last establishment that we visited. Yum Yum! And laughs along the way too...
07/03/08 • Our guide was a great tour guide. Humorous, informative and patient with a challenging group. He handled a couple of problems that cropped up with aplomb... My elderly mother, 10-year-old son and myself enjoyed ourselves immensely. Only wish we'd been staying closer to that neighborhood so we could have taken advantage of the coupons and our new found knowledge. [View here]
Excellent Activity
07/03/08 • Good food samples, interesting info provided at each stop with enough local history, architecture, and stories to keep the tour flowing and interesting for all. I was very thankful that shopping was not allowed on the tour. Providing shopping time to meet everyone's interests would have stretched the tour out to long. My wife and I did, however, return to a few of the stops after the tour to use the discount coupons! Chicago is the "windy city" so be prepared if the weather is cool. It was perfect for us. [View here]
Absolutely fantastic
07/02/08 • Well worth every cent. There wasn't a single part we didn't enjoy. And it was a great balance between learning about the city, enjoying some interesting tastings and eating great food. [View here]
Marvelous
07/01/08 • Our guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and full of joie de vivre. We had a thoroughly wonderful experience. Having lived all my life in Chicago I still learned a thing or two about my city, in addition to enjoying all the food stops. I hope you will create other tours equal to this one. I have already recommended this to several of my friends. Kudos for a job well done. Thanks to our lovely guide as well. [View here]
Great Tour
06/30/08 • The guide was very informative and provided alot of insight into the different areas and restaurants that we visited... Overall, my wife and I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting Chicago. As a closing thought....we have traveled quite extensively and Chicago is definitely one of the best cities we have been to. [View here]
Great Fun!
06/30/08 • Foodies and history buffs alike will enjoy this quick 3 hour tour of the Lincoln Park /Old Town/Gold Coast neighborhoods. Yummy samples and interesting, informative comments make the tour fly by. We were the only threesome from the Chicago suburbs and we learned alot about the area. We cannot wait to go back and use our coupons! A great value! [View here]
Cross Section of Chicago Culinary and Culture
06/29/08 • This is much more than your average food tour. Not only do you get a taste of Chicago's culinary offerings, but a feel for the history and the pride of the people of the city of Chicago. Many members of our tour group stated that they really enjoyed everything about the tour and were particularly taken with the tea, spice and oil shops for their uniqueness. The food items provided for tasting were a well rounded assortment and plenty for my party. I believe all of us were especially impressed with our tour guide who was not only knowledgeable and easy to talk to but friendly to one and all. She made the experience even more enjoyable. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get the true "flavor" of Chicago. [View here]
Great tastes, excellent aromas!
06/28/08 • Touring the tea house, spice shop and oil/vinegar shop were the three highlights of the food portion on this tour. The pairing of Chicago history while strolling through Lincoln Park, Olde Town, the Gold Coast, etc. made the tour far superior to just a "Food tour". Our guide was a pleasure and kept the group moving when required. My wife and I would recommend this tour to anyone. Have a good breakfast that morning and wear comfortable shoes. Enjoy! [View here]
Great tour!!
06/28/08 • Always looking for new ways to discover the beautiful city of Chicago. The guide was informative, good variety in selection of stops, good length of time. Having owners tell their tales was an added bonus. Can't say enough. Have already spread the word among interested friends. [View here]
Recommended for Local & Out of Towners Alike!
06/27/08 • Two girlfriends and I wanted to do something a "little different" than we normally do for a girl's day out. So we found the Chicago Food Tour from Chicago Food Planet. Since we LOVE food and wanted to do something in the city--it was perfect. We loved the tour, our guide was incredible--lots of energy and information along the walk. The tasters were enough to fill us by the time we were through. We had gotten some architectural facts, history, laughs, got to know our local neighborhoods, some exercise and had a lot of fun. Would highly recommend it to locals & out of towners alike! Thank you! [View here]
Food, architecture and educational!
06/27/08 • Not only do you walk by a number of places to try different foods and learn about them including oils, vinegars, spices, pizza, and such, but go by a number of neighborhoods with old architecture including the original Playboy mansion and learn about many of today's homes. I enjoyed myself much more than I had anticipated and would highly recommend it to anyone. The amount of people is small enough to be intimate but not too small making one feel uncomfortable. For the price it is well worth the dollar. [View here]
excellent tour, great guide
06/27/08 • Our tour guide did a great job. She was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and went out of her way to help with directions, recommendations of other things to do, etc. We would recommend the tour to anyone visiting the chicago area, and felt that it was a lot of fun and a good value. [View here]
What A Wonderful Tour!!!
06/23/08 • This tour was the best I have ever been on. I learned not only about wonderful food but great history of Chicago! Thanks! [View here]
Awesome tour of the north neighborhoods!
06/23/08 • I really enjoyed this tour. I visited Chicago once before, but my husband and I had explored the areas of the Loop and the museum districts on our own. I was on my own in Chicago this time and decided to take this tour up in the Northern Neighborhoods of the Gold Coast, Old Town, and Lincoln Park. It was amazing! I went back to half of the stops and bought merchandise because the shops were so cool! I will take my husband on this tour the next time we are in Chi-town. [View here]
VERY NICE TOUR
06/22/08 • Our group ranged in age from 28 to 51 and were all women from northwest Indiana. We all enjoyed the tour. We were afraid we would be hungry during the tour so we ate beforehand. We could have gone without the meal prior to the tour as there was plenty of food along the way for us. Was amazed at the homes shown during the tour. Have been many times to Chicago but this was certainly a different side we had never experienced. The guide was knowledgable and fun. [View here]
Loved it! Learned a lot
06/21/08 • We loved the experience! Our tour guide was extremely funny and knowledgeable about the architecture, food, and everything else you could possibly want to know about Chicago. The tastings we stopped at featured some wonderful stores that I would never have been able fit in in one weekend if I did not take the tour... All of the tastings were phenomenal and the architecture information was so interesting. The walk also lead us through some of the main attractions of the city. My boyfriend and I thought we got such a good value for the cost of the tickets. We saw so much in such a short period of time. So worth it! I will recommend it to all... But whatever you do, do not miss this tour! [View here]
Loved it! Learned a lot
06/21/08 • My mom came into town and my sister and I took her on this tour. It was fantastic. Great tour guides. The tour was organized, efficient, informative and I learned a lot and experienced new places even though I've lived here for 13 years. I would go on it again and I wish they would expand to other neighborhoods... [View here]
Good times
06/21/08 • We've lived in Chicago for about a year, but haven't spent much time exploring other neighborhoods. We really enjoyed having a guide take us through and give us tid-bits about the neighborhoods we walked through, and enjoyed tasting some of Chicago's best- we'll be heading back to several of the spots on the tour that weren't on our radar. [View here]
Very interesting, fun, tasty, tour guide was great!
06/20/08 • My friends and I met in Chicago for a weekend and we went on the food tour. Our guide was great. Very informative, spoke to everyone in the group, and fun! The places we stopped were great. I learned about tea. Loved the oil shop and spice shop. We actually went back after the tour and purchased several items. It is really 2 tours in one. Learned about the architecture and the foods of the city. We would recommend it highly. Be prepared to walk. Finished up the tour with chocolate. YUMM!!!! [View here]
Interesting, diverse, a nice way to spend a day
06/20/08 • We enjoyed the tour quite a bit. It was well done, the stops on the tour were diverse and many were unique. It was a nice way to explore three Chicago neighborhoods and hear a bit about the architecture and history. We went back the next day and visited three of the stops to shop a bit. [View here]
Highly Recommended - Great Value
06/19/08 • I'd recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago or even living in Chicago! While on this walking tour you get exposed to various foods and interesting shops all while getting historical background on the city and buildings. The tour guide, food, information, architecture, and walk were all great! [View here]
fun and educational
06/19/08 • I was surprised by the variety of food offered... This tour was recommended by a co-worker and I will definitely spread the word. It was nice to see something other than Michigan Avenue, a play, or museum. Don't change a thing! [View here]
Chicago Food Tour
06/17/08 • This was an interesting and fun tour through some famous Chicago neighborhoods that I was not familiar with. There was a good variety in the types of stores visited and the pacing and opportunities to sit down were well timed... There was time to chat and visit with your companions along the way. The guides were friendly, energetic and very enthusiastic about sharing their love of Chicago. All in all, it was an enjoyable way to spend time off the beaten path in Chicago. [View here]
A Must Do Activity for Locals and Visitors
06/16/08 • We loved this tour! As a Chicagoan, now suburbanite, it was great to see the local businesses and their history. The shop owners and staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. We learned so much on the tour and in a very fun way. Thank you for the great day and to our tour guide, you are the best... Thank you again for a great tour, guide, and perfect weather! We are eagerly looking for the next Food Tour. [View here]
Fantastic Tour!
06/16/08 • When we found this tour on the Internet we did not know exactly what we were getting into but WE LOVED IT!! The tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant and kept things moving. The different locations visited were outstanding and the food was marvelous. Getting to go into the different neighborhoods and hearing the stories about events that happened in them was very interesting. I would highly recommend this great tour to anyone who wants to get a real view of Chicago city life. [View here]
AMAZING! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
06/15/08 • I was visiting my brother and cousin in Chicago for the first time, and we thought to do the Chicago Food Planet Food Tours to kill some time on a Sunday afternoon. I was there for the weekend and the food tours was by far the most exciting and best event for the weekend. Not only was it a food tour, but we also got a historical tour of the city and did a little walking through Gold Coast, Old Town, and Lincoln Park. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend it for visitors as well as natives of the city. It is a MUST DO EVENT! Very cheap and affordable too. [View here]
Money well spent
06/14/08 • My wife and I wanted to experience Chicago in a way that you don't normally do. We had been to Chicago before and stayed mainly on the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier, this time we wanted something different. The tour was very enjoyable with the facts about different Archtectures, eating establishment and the information we found out about different teas, chocolates, spieces, oils and vinegars. This was just want we had asked for and our tour guide was very good. The three hour tour did not seem like it took that long. We will recommend this to our friends. [View here]
Informative, Energetic, Well Planned
06/14/08 • This food tour of downtown, Old Town & Lincoln Park was about so much more than food. Our tour guide, enthralled us with stories about people and places in Chicago, pointing out various architecture styles that non-locals would never have noticed. The tour is a real value for the money... All in all, it was a marvelous day. [View here]
Fanstastic Experience!
06/14/08 • My boyfriend and I had a great time on the tour. Not only did we get to try great food, we also learned a lot about Chicago history, and walked through three wonderful neighborhoods in Chicago... We enjoyed every tasting. Although you cannot shop on the tour (because that would take forever), every person gets coupons for discounts at each store to use later if they want to return... [View here]
We loved it
06/13/08 • There were three of us to see the city of Chicago and we started off with this tour. We all thought it was a great idea but didn't think we needed the "oil" or "spices" part of the tour. We were very wrong about that. That was one of the best parts. But the entire tour was wonderful... We would do it again and we got some good ideas of where to go & what to buy during our stay. We loved it!!!!!!!!!! [View here]
Beautiful Scenery and Delicious Food
06/13/08 • Strolling through Old Town, Gold Coast, and Lincoln Park, you get a feel for how true Chicagoans live. Not only do you taste delicious food and learn from the masters of their trade, but you get a city and architecture tour thrown in! Our tour guide was perfect. During our 3 day stay in the city, this was my favorite activity. [View here]
Very enjoyable journey through the Gold Coast!
06/13/08 • Our tour guide for the Food Tasting Tour gathered the group in front of the Deli right on time. At each stop, she gave us all the necessary info and was open to different questions. Excellent presentation at each stop along the tour. She was also very willing to answer other questions re activities in the city. That was much appreciated. I would certainly recommend this Tour to friends who plan on visiting Chicago... Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon! [View here]
Interesting altiernative to traditional tours
06/13/08 • We had been to Chicago before and had seen many of the tourist sights. We came this time with our 16 year old son, and we all thought it was the highlight of the trip. Loved many of the tasting stops and especially the neighborhood history. [View here]
awesome!
06/11/08 • My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the businesses that we visited. The guide was personable and enjoyable and the food we tasted was marvelous. my husband is a chef and was very pleased with the quality of the businesses. We went back the next day to do our shopping and were welcomed back by everyone. And the coupons were great! [View here]
FABULOUS way to "do it all" off beaten path!
06/08/08 • We had a wonderful guide who was very passionate and enthusiastic about sharing her love of Chicago... We walked through three significant neighborhoods that reflect Chicago's wonderful history, architecture and diversity (NOTHING scary, I promise! Lots of wonderful upscale things to admire too) and tasted such interesting things while learning. I've traveled all over the world and this is - bar none - the best tour I've ever taken for the sheer interest, range of information and variety of activities - exercising, learning, tasting, sightseeing. Plus, they give you the "down low" on what locals like to do so you can make your own plans later and there also was a little local gossip to keep the interest level at a peak the entire time! Can you tell I had a wonderful time and will be dragging a group up to Chicago just for this tour as soon as I can pull it off? [View here]
Add this to the beginning of your visit to Chicago
06/08/08 • This tour even in a rain storm was fun, full of information, tasty and a good walking workout. We found little jems of stores and retaurants that we would have never found as tourists to Chicago... We do plan a trip back to Chicago and will be taking this tour with more of our friends at the beginning of our trip... Our tour guide was fun and knowledgable. The homes and shops in Old Town and in Lincoln Park are beautiful and it is good to see that a city core can be revitalized even after the urban sprawl of the 70's, the city planners did a wonderful thing to reinvest in the city centre to bring it back to life. Thanks again for our wonderful tour, we will be returning and can't recommend this tour enough. [View here]
A wonderful tour - both about chicago and food
06/08/08 • We really enjoyed the fact that the tour covered interesting details about the Chicago neighborhoods we visited, unexpected facts about the food items, and plenty of sampling. The tour guide was excellent, clearly showing that she was an enthusiastic native. She continually checked to make sure everyone was happy with the pace of the tour, and we never felt rushed. We would recommend this tour to others! [View here]
More than food
06/08/08 • The food was terrific, but I found the tour through the various neighborhoods to be just as great a part of the experience. I like to visit new areas but am reluctant to explore on my own without some guidance either written or personal. Our guide actually went to college and lived in the area so was able to provide great insights. A passer-by was impressed also and we gave one of our guides away so they could sign up... [View here]
Great City tour
06/08/08 • We enjoyed seeing the city on foot and getting to know the neighborhoods and the local businesses better... Our guide was great! Very helpful and informative. Hope you add other tours of different neighborhoods so we can do it all over again. [View here]
Fun, tasty, educational, different
06/07/08 • Loved our tour guide! Learned about Chicago restaurants, some history, and architecture. Food was excellent: loved the oil/vinegar stop, spices, chocolates, and authentic pizza! All members of our group enjoyed the tour: we also liked that all food was vegetarian, and healthy. [View here]
Outstanding way to see Chicago!
06/07/08 • What a wonderful afternoon and delightful way to see and taste Chicago! I highly recommend it and I'm looking forward to taking many more out ot town guests on the tour! [View here]
anniversary trip
06/06/08 • My husband and I started out trip to Chicago with this tour. It was the best thing we could have done! It gave us several ideas for places to go during our time in the city. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tastings opened our eyes to looking at foods in a different way. I definitely recommend taking this tour!! [View here]
Great tour!
06/06/08 • Our guide was a wonderful, helpful hostess with a lot of enthusiasm. She really seemed interested in our stay in Chicago and made an effort to talk to everyone... We really loved the tour and she was a large part of that. We had huge weather issues and she handled them with aplomb. We are "foodies" from Seattle and wondered if we would learn anything from this tour. The answer is YES. The stores/tastings were great and we found a few specialty stores that we will be checking out online. Tthe three different neighborhoods were lovely and diverse and we also learned things about Chicago. We wanted to go back to certain areas due to us being able to walk through and feel the vibes of the neighborhoods. We loved looking at all of the amazing homes and different styles of architecture. We couldn't cover as many areas in Seattle due to the steep hills. Chicago is flat and we could have walked forever....just bring an umbrella and be prepared for heat, wind and rain in June, or any month. We feel that we really got a lot for the money with this amazingly fun food tour. Great job!!! [View here]
It was very hot and very windy and very wonderful
06/06/08 • The pace was leisurely, which was nice. Despite the heat and humidity (and a brief downpour), our tour guidess (kind of like a godess, only in the guide world) remained cheerful, conscientious of our needs, and really tried to make a connection with each person on the tour. It was fun. It was factual. I learned a lot! [View here]
Fabulous tour! Well worth the money!
06/06/08 • Our tour guide was fabulous. She was upbeat, friendly and enthusiastic. Our guide knowledgeable about the tour sites and the neighborhoods we visited. The food samples were delicious. It felt like a local friend was showing us around the town for a few hours. The tour stops were varied, but all wonderful in their own way. I felt like I saw a bit of Chicago I would not have seen otherwise. This tour was so much fun. I would love if they offered another food tour emphasizing other Chicago neighborhoods. All in all, a very fun afternoon. I would highly recommend for tourists and locals alike. [View here]
Absolutely Fantastic
06/04/08 • This was a highlight of our group's bus trip to Chicago. Our guide was perfect. We had a wonderful time walking, talking, laughing, tasteing, and learning about the north neighborhoods of Chicago. After the tour we back tracked our route so we could make purchases at the different stops. All the shops were very friendly and helpful. We have already recommened this tour to other friends going to Chicago this summer. The pizza was too good to discribe! [View here]
Expanding to San Francisco?
06/04/08 • I took your tour on Wednesday and I haven't been able to stop thinking about how amazing it would work in San Francisco, my hometown. If you ever consider expanding into San Francisco and need insider's information of the area, please do not hesitate to contact me. With all the different cultural neighborhoods and the history in San Francisco, a walking food tour would be highly sucessful. In time - I could even picture several tours highlighting the different areas: Chinatown, North Beach, the Embarcadero, the Mission. The possibilities in San Francisco are endless!! Just some food for thought (no pun intended!) Thanks again for a wonderful experience! [View here]
Positively scrumptious
06/02/08 • Friendly, fun, informative, good pacing for the time and distance. Never a dull moment. Positively scrumptious tastings! [View here]
Terrific and unusual tour
06/01/08 • This was a great tour for me and well worth the cost. I am a food lover and knew I would have time to spare while my husband was at a conference. Directions to and from the tour were perfect. I didn't have any unanswered questions prior to or after the tour. I was glad I wore good walking shoes as directed! Our tour guide was very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I learned many interesting things about the various Chicago neighborhoods and greatly enjoyed the tastings. It wasn't too much or too little. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to go off the beaten path and experience a taste of life in Chicage. [View here]
Great experience not to be missed
06/01/08 • I enjoyed hearing the history of the different neighborhoods that we passed through and seeing the different types of architecture. I was definitely full after completing the tour. There was plenty to eat and seconds and even thirds were encouraged. I liked the variety of the places we visited. I found the oil & vinegar stop the most interesting as I had never seen so many different kinds of oils and flavored vinegars. I made sure to stop back there after the tour to make a purchase. I also really enjoyed the chocolates at the last stop. I picked up some of those to take home as well. Our guide was very friendly and seemed especially knowledgable. I would highly recommend this tour to family or friends when visiting Chicago and I will search out similiar tours when visiting other destinations in the future. [View here]
Fun for Foodies, and personal touch
06/01/08 • Our tour was very relaxing, lots of time to chat as we walked, everyone enjoyed it. I went back to the Spice and Tea and Oil , and chocolate stores and purchased several hundred dollars in merchandise. The architectual points were really interesting and I felt I received an orientation to the neighborhoods, of gold coast, and old town that I would never have achieved walking alone even if I found the shops. The walking part was great too. [View here]
yum
06/01/08 • Good choice of vendors, good mix of local trivia and history, buildings and homes, going to hoods that tourists would not think of going to and very good exercise! Guide was very friendly, knowlegeable, enthusiastic, organized. [View here]
great fun
05/31/08 • This tour was wonderful. We had a small group -- only seven on the tour -- and our guide was great. She was informative and fun. Most of the group were in their 20's with a 50/50 mix of Chicagoans and visitors. The highlights for everyone were the specialty olive oil and balsamic vinegar shop and the spice shop. The chocolates and pizza were good too! [View here]
great tour
05/31/08 • This walk tour is just a great way to walk through the streets and alleys of Chicago. We get to walk streets I would not have found, taste food that I would not have tasted and hear stories I would not have otherwise heard. The pace of the tour was great - no rushing at all. I have lots of time to take photos too. Our tour guide was all-knowledgeable and patient. She is very friendly. She knows her stuff - including the spice and teas. Overall, a very fun walk and my daughter mentioned that this is the the highlight of our week long in your beautiful city. Thank you. [View here]
great tour
05/30/08 • The weather did not completely cooperate, but the tour was great. I would highly recommend it. By walking you see many parts of Chicage you would otherwise miss. The planned stops are all unique stores and independently owned. Returned to many of the stores for personal purchases as well as great gifts. [View here]
unique tour for all walks of life
05/30/08 • I booked this tour because it was something I knew I would like. Most of the folks that went in our group (of 6) didn't do as much cooking or baking as I did so, I wasn't sure if they would enjoy it as much as. As it turned out we spend all of our day retracing our steps going back to stores we saw or eating at recommended restaurants during the rest of our stay in Chicago. Our entire group got into the history and food as much, if not more than I did. Our tour guide was friendly and kept us off the beaten path. It was the best part of our time in Chicago... [View here]

05/28/08 • Very organized. I learned a lot about the city of Chicago. I would recommend this tour to anyone that goes to Chicago. I'm glad I did it! [View here]
fun, worthwhile afternoon adventure!
05/25/08 • We both thoroughly enjoyed the tour; our guide was personable and took good care of the group. His commentary on the architecture and neighborhoods we visited was an extra plus. The food stops were fun; favorites were the pizza place and the oil and vinegar shop. And the chocolate was delicious!... And the stores and helpful owners were very appealing. Would definitely recommend this tour to others. And thanks to our guide for a nice afternoon. [View here]
a trip worth taking the time to do!
05/25/08 • We enjoyed seeing the different neighborhoods and all the tasting stops were great. We will go back to this area on our own... Our tour guide was great. I would recommend this to anyone. [View here]
a fun afternoon
05/25/08 • We thoroughly enjoyed the entertaining and fun tour through the Chicago neighborhoods. It was a lot of walking but we stopped several times to enjoy the various shops/eateries. We also had bathroom breaks and we did not go hungry! The tour guide was outstanding. She was courteous, friendly and outgoing. It was a blast. Everyone on our tour thought so as well. We learned some local history and enjoyed the unique shops. It was well worth the time and money. Don't miss it! [View here]
great tour!!! great host!!
05/25/08 • Would highly recommend this tour. Well informed tour guide with great tastings and out of the way places not found on the main drag!! [View here]
great way to see chicago!
05/24/08 • What a great way to see Chicago! The tour guide was nice, funny and very informative!!!! I loved the learning about Chicago facts, Chicago history and Chicago city suggestions from a local. And what a great way to do a tour via food! What a great way to learn about local Chicago restaurants, local eateries, food facts and also getting to taste delicious samples along the way!! I highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Chicago =) A+! [View here]
A great way to spend an afternoon in Chicago
05/24/08 • My friend (a local) and I (a visitor) had a wonderful time on the tour. The weather was perfect, all of the food stops were delicious, and our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend this tour to both out of town visitors and Chicago locals. I also appreciated the coupons in the handout. After the tour, I went back to several of these business and bought gifts to take home to my family. [View here]
Highly recommend
05/22/08 • I had pretty high expectation going into the tour and I'm happy to say that the actual tour was much better than my expectation. The tour gives good glimpse into different neighborhoods of Chicago and the foods were excellent. My only regret was not doing the tour at the beginning of my trip to Chicago. I learned about so many places I could have visited during my time there, so I recommend doing the tour early to give yourself enough time to visit these coold places on your own time. [View here]
We LOVED this walking/tasting tour of Old Chicago!
05/18/08 • We go to Chicago each year with another couple for the Wright-Walk (Frank Lloyd Wright) weekend. We also like to program enjoyable side trips. When we checked your 3-hour walk around Old Chicago (and its borders), we thought the tasting/cultural tour would be fun. We LOVED it, in large part because our tour leader was delightful: knowlegeable, full of life and a really pleasant person! Each stop, whether at a Jewish Deli, a chocolate maker---or a balsamic vinegar/olive oil importer's shop was informative and a tasty treat! We will make several purchases from home (NY) on the shops' internet sites. We enjoyed this tour so much that we are going to check out other offerings, both where we live and other parts of the USA which we visit during the year. Thanks you people for providing us with such a good time! [View here]
Tour Uncovers Hidden Treasures in Chicago!
05/17/08 • I bought the tickets for my twentysomething sons and their significant others for Christmas and they all said what a fantastic time they had. They were very impressed with the unique shops they toured and enjoyed learning about the neighborhoods they walked through. Being from the suburbs they would not have even known these shops existed and the wonderful samplings these fabulous shops offered put this tour over the top for them. They phoned me as soon as their tour ended quite excited and pleased, and were very impressed with their knowledgeable guide! They strongly recommend this tour to foodies of all ages! [View here]
Best way to see Chicago!
05/17/08 • Our group LOVED this tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun! We were able to see different neighborhoods of the city while enjoying the different food selections. We all would enthusiastically recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago - it cannot be missed! Thank you Chicago Food Planet for a memorable trip to the windy city!! [View here]
Great for locals too
05/17/08 • I am originally from Chicago and I was on a date with my boyfriend who is new to the city. I wanted him to learn a little more about Chicago through food. I never thought that it would be a Chicago educational experience for me as well. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and the food was wonderful! Although there is food involved, you get to know Chicago neighborhood history as well. By the end of the tour I was surprisingly full. [View here]
I rediscovered Chicago
05/16/08 • After living in Chicago for 35 years, I learned new things on this tour. I didn't know that Hugh Hefner had given the Playboy Mansion to the Art Institute for a freshman dorm and that it was now very large condos. I rediscovered Old Town. Last time I visited there it was seedy and dumpy. None of us had tasted the chocolate lounge and we will certainly return there. We had a great guide ~ knowledgable, personable and enthusiastic. She did a great job! [View here]
A must for any visitor to Chicago
05/14/08 • I can say, without any doubt, this was the highlight of our stay in Chicago. We had an extraordinarily friendly tour guide (who was also very good with the four-year-old that was travelling with us), got to sight-see in many picturesque areas, and, of course, indulge in fantastic food. As well as enjoying the tour, you also receive excellent suggestions on future dining. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and book now! [View here]
worth it!
05/14/08 • Our friendly and energetic guide paid attention to every member of the group, particularly ensuring safety and comfort. The walk was more than I am used to in my sedentary life, but broken up by our scheduled stops and occasional presentations on area architecture/history. The stops were interesting, and the food was very tasty! All host stores/restaurants were very friendly and we returned to several to use our discount tix from the tour. The map the guide provided everyone was very helpful on our return walk to our car. I have already recommended this tour to a couple friends from the suburbs who would enjoy a pleasant day trip to an area of the city they may not have visited before... [View here]
Fantastic Tour & Highly Recommended
05/13/08 • My husband & I live in Chicago in Greektown. I took him on the tour for his birthday & we both absolutely loved the tour! It was a beautiful, perfect day and a wonderful walk through all the neighborhoods. Our guide was awesome. She was full of energy, very knowledgeable and very funny. We loved her. We enjoyed learning more of the history of Chicago. We have already been back to the tea shop to purchase some of the teas we tried on the tour. The food tasting was an additional perk & our favorite was the pizza. You can't beat Chicago pizza! I would definitely recommend this tour to my family & friends. Have fun in our beautiful city of Chicago!! [View here]
Enjoyable way to see more of Chicago
05/12/08 • My friend and I rode the Mega Bus to Chicago. We are both foodies. We love to cook and go to cooking classes. So this seemed like a good fit for us. We loved all of it. We also are walkers, hikers, etc... We went to some very different places. The "Spice Merchant" being one. Awsome! Seeing other neighborhoods that I normally would not have known about, restaurants that I would have missed and beautiful buildings are just a few other good things about this tour. And before I forget, the guide, was plesant, and knowlegable. [View here]
Great experience
05/12/08 • This event was well worth doing. I took the tour myself as my husband was in Chicago on business. I felt very comfortable. The tour guide were very nice and the tour itself was great. It was very informative and saw what was described in the advertising. The tasting part of the tour was great as well. I saw and experienced things that I never would have on regular travel. I highly recommend this tour to any wife with her husband on travel or any couple that want to see and experience parts of Chicago that other wise wouldn't be experienced. [View here]
Good excuse to discover more of Chicago & EAT
05/10/08 • Loved that I learned more about some of the more off-the-beaten track neighborhoods in Chicago while getting to sample some great/ unique food. Unlike many of the people on the tour who were experiencing Chicago for the first time, I'd been to Chicago several times (my mom lives in the Chicago burbs) and yet I still learned so much about Chicago that I hadn't known before. As for the food, yes, some of these places I could've went to on my own... but would I have ever known to do so? No way. This tour introduced me to places I would never have discovered, and I'm all the better for it. [View here]
a wonderful experience
05/10/08 • My husband and I had a great time on the tour. We learned a lot of Chicago history and enjoyed some yummy food along the way! Our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and very easy to talk to. We highly recommend you take this tour early in your visit to Chicago so you can check out all the shops & restaurants Chicago Food Planet recommends. [View here]
making this an annual event!
05/10/08 • My husband had been on this tour before with a group of teachers and had said to me, "I've never been more sure of anything than I am sure that you will love this tour." He was right!!!! It was fantastic. When our tour guide asked us at the end of the day what I had liked the best. I said the delicious chocolate that I was eating at the time. That was true because the "best" thing was whatever we were doing at the moment! It was all fabulous and I couldn't pick one thing over another. The walk was amazing. You see Chicago as you never see it when you are traveling by taxi or bus from one destination to another. We were lucky enough to even have one of the hospitable owners of a historic house we were walking by, talk to us about her home and the neighborhood. Our guide was great! She did a wonderful job! I am requesting this as my Mother's Day gift from now on. I don't think I could ever grow tired of reliving this experience. Thank you so much! [View here]
a great tour, it tells a lot in a short time
05/09/08 • We didn't have of time to see every thing in chicago, so that tour came as the best thing to see alot in the city in a very short time, the tour was great, we wouldn't pay attention for most of those details if we were walking by it. but once they tell you about you really enjoy every minute of that trip... the best activity was the pizza place, it's amazing but we realized after the trip was over that the best part was the walking by all these nice places. to enjoy it the most, we recommend to go on the tour on you first day there and after that go all over the city by your selves so you can stop by those places and enjoy the city the most. overall it's a five star activity... [View here]
great fun
05/05/08 • We were on a girl's weekend and could not have been more pleased with the tour. Our guide was very enthusiastic and gave us some great tips on restaurants and also the history of Chicago. The places that we visited we would never have found on our own. [View here]
Fantastic!
05/05/08 • I had a great time on this tour. I have been to chicago many times and came with some work friends who wanted to go. I really enjoyed the tour and had a lot of fun. Our guide was great... She did a super job showing us around. Thanks so much! I would (and did) recommend it highly to my friends. [View here]
Great Off-the-beaten-path Tour
05/04/08 • I planned this tour as an anniversary gift for my boyfriend since we were vacationing in Chicago. Needless to say, he had a great time. Its perfect to do on a sunny day and to find hidden gems in Chicago that you would not usually expect to find as a tourist. My favorite was the tea (very informative), oil and vinegar tasting (very unique), pizza (sooo much better than Gino's East), and the chocolate Lounge (very cute and charming--wish we had this back home in LA). If you are a first timer in Chicago, don't mind some walking, a definite foodie, and want to have a different but satisfyng experience then this tour is definitely for you. [View here]
better than expected, loved tour
05/04/08 • We loved our guide. This was our first trip to Chicago and it was nice to move outside of downtown and learn about a couple of the neighborhoods. We loved the food, history and culture... [View here]
educational, fun, and interesting
05/03/08 • This was a terrific tour. The stops, both restaurant/store visits and the architectural/history pauses, were extremely interesting. Our guide did a terrific job of weaving education and humor. Would definitely like to return with other family and friends. [View here]

awesome!! highly recommended
05/03/08 • We were the last group to purchase tickets. There were only 3 tickets left and we needed 4 tickets! They went out of their way to accommodate us! We very much appreciated it! The tour was phenominal! We would recommend it not only to visitors to Chicago, but to all locals as well!! We went into unique stores that we probably would never have found if we would have gone off on our own shopping trip! We also learned a tremendous amount about the history of Chicago and the buildings! Our tour guide was FANTASTIC!! Hopefully the company grows in leaps and bounds soon!! [View here]
educational and fun
05/02/08 • My 18 year old niece and I took the tour. We both had a great time. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The sites were interesting. It was good to see a different part of Chicago. The food tastings were excellent. [View here]
i had a great time
05/02/08 • I highly recommend this trip to anyone with a discerning palate who prefers to discover a city on foot -off the beaten path typically travelled by tourists. Our guide was exuberant and thoughtful injecting wit and history into our 3 hour tour of local flavors. I will definitely advise anyone arriving in chicago to check out Food Planet. Thanks for the day! [View here]
great time
04/29/08 • We had a wonderful review of places that we may never have discovered on our own even though we are Chicago suburban residents. We tried some new things and will most likely return to some of the places we stopped, actually we did go back after the tour to make some purchases. [View here]
interesting insight into the local neighbourhoods
04/27/08 • The tour group was nice as we got to chat to the tour guide who was very friendly and forthcoming with information. The range of food places we visited was good and so was the quality. I especially enjoyed the stuffed pizza! One of the local specialities. I would recommend this tour for the beginning of your stay. We were only staying for a short time but if we'd had longer I would have definitely revisited some of the food places on the tour and tried some of the restaurant recommendations. [View here]
great tour
04/26/08 • I learned so many things about herbs & spices, tea and even chocolate. It was a lot of fun and great exercise! [View here]
food tour gets an A+
04/25/08 • The food/architectural tour was great. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. It is the best way to see the city and get to know your way around. The store owners were helpful. The businesses chosen on this tour were very well thought out. The spices and oils delicious. The deep-dish pizza tasty. All the chocolate mouth watering. The architecture seen was magnificent. Chicago is a beautiful city. [View here]
Highly recommended-well worth the $! Lots of fun!
04/25/08 • We thoroughly enjoyed the tour & food tasting was fabulous-such a variety-you definitely don't need lunch. Our guide was friendly & very knowledgeable-learned lots! [View here]
chicago with a twist
04/24/08 • expected just a culinary experience and got so much more. The guides were friendly, enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed what they were doing. I always ask lots of questions and they did not seem impatient or annoyed by any of them. We visited several neighborhoods and while we did have tastings in each the information and " inside stories" about each neighborhood were the best... Unusual teas and spices were intriguing. The Pomegranite Vinegar was the best new taste for me. I learned so much more about this wonderful city than I expected to. Thanks!! [View here]
great tour
04/21/08 • I really enjoyed this tour. I actually learned a lot while enjoying some tasty samplings of a variety of foods and walking about some of the Chicago neighborhoods. It was a great way to get my bearings on my second day in the City... We were given enough tasty delights were a normal appetite would be satisfied ... The tour guide was enthusiastic about what he was showing us and the constant smile on his face was refreshing. It showed he was enjoying showing us about as well. If you, the reader, are contemplating this tour, I highly recommend it. You will also get some really nice ideas about where to come back for nice dinners and lunches. Enjoy!!!! [View here]

great tour, good food!
04/20/08 • Not only was our guide great, the food was worth the tour and most of all the information we learned about the city along the way was very interesting! [View here]
we win! :)
04/19/08 • The tour guide was fantastic as she'd grown up in Chicago, and had come back after travelling so was very enthusiastic about showing off her city. We had a great experience that was far more intimate and laid back than a silly bus tour, and much less touristy than awful big group things. My friend's friend met us there (we are living in three different states and met in Chicago for a weekend), and at the end of the day, after the last stop and noticing the consignment shop next door as well as finishing up the day returning to the tour shops and buying way too much- said "we win guys! we had the best day ever! and even got the best tour guide!" my sentiments exactly. [View here]
tour was a highlight of a great trip to chicago!
04/19/08 • The tour was excellent. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and provided a good pace and balance for walking through the city, introducing us to the different food experiences and providing historical background information and architectural insights to help us to really enjoy our tour. I wouldn't change a thing - it was great! [View here]

great time
04/19/08 • We were really happy with the array of interesting stops, foods and information. We have been on food tours in other cities and felt that this was the best. The pace of the tour was great and at no point did we get restless or anxious to keep moving. It was great! [View here]
i highly recommend this tour!
04/17/08 • I had a great time on the food tour. It was a beautiful day for walking through Chicago and I didn't feel guilty for indulging in all the yummy treats along the way since I knew I was getting some exercise in! I was expecting to taste some local favorites (which I did), but I was surprised at how much I learned about the city's history and architecture. I really enjoyed our tour guide's energy- he was charming, friendly, and kept us entertained all day! This is a great tour for any Chicago visitors who want an inside look at the city's rich culinary background. [View here]

Very enjoyable - both the food and the culture!
10/28/07 • This was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The $40 was well worth the money spent... The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the 3 neighborhoods covered during the 3+ hour walk, and very entertaining. The food tastings were great - a nice variety. It was nice to visit the local "mom and pop" type of shops that need our business to thrive. I would highly recommend this tour. [View here]
Great Time
10/28/07 • Our guide did a great job guiding us through the Chicago tour. I was on the tour with my parent while they were up visiting me in Chicago. It was great... We went back that day and the next to the merchants and used some of the coupons that were handed out with the tour packet. [View here]
Great Tour
10/27/07 • As a local, with out of town guests, this was a fun activilty for everyone. I learned about shops that I didn't know existed in the city and everyone enjoyed the great food. I highly recommend this tour (if you are into food!) [View here]
Very interesting and delicious!!!
10/27/07 • We are a group of women that travel together once a year. We love chocolate. Both the food and distance were traveled were perfect. We got to see a part of Chicago we probably would of never seen. We could not of asked for a better tour guide. She made everyone feel very comfortable. And she was full of information. Some of the women really don't walk to much and for them it was just perfect. Plus we learned alot about spices and oil and tea. I am the one that booked it and they gave me a gold star for the day. Sometimes it's hard to find things for us today that everybody can enjoy. I would highly recomend this tour. [View here]
Fun experience, well worth the time and money!
10/26/07 • I wanted a walking tour with a different experience and I received much more than I expected. The various tour stops were fun. It was a wonderful variation of businesses. Those shops that took time to speak to us were very informative and I learned something in each one. What really made the experience compete was the history that our tour guide shared as we walked along the route. He pointed out many Chicago landmarks that I would mave missed because I was not familiar with the area. The guide should be commended for his knowledge of not only the tour stops and area history, but for his friendliness and ability to relate to every one in the group. [View here]
What a great day!
10/26/07 • I found this tour on line and my two girlfriends were just okay with doing the tour. They ended up giving me kudo's all weekend for booking such a great tour. Our tour guide was kind, informative and fun. We loved walking through the neighborhoods and would have never seen those areas had we not gone on the tour. The food sampling was great and we did go back and eat at an Italian restaurant the next day that Nikki recommended to some tourist that day. We also made our way back to Rush St. & Old Town the next day for shopping. We had dinner that same night at a recommended restaurant and then partied at another recommended establishment. It was a wonderful tour and I would highly recommend taking the time to do this. There are enough stops that you will not be tired by the walking either. Great Job! [View here]
A great and tasty tour!
10/25/07 • My date and I enjoyed all aspects of the tour - the vivacious and knowledgeable guide, the great foods offered by the vendors (the toffee and the pizza were the biggest hits!), and the up-close and personal view of Chicago that this tour offered. Even though we're just from Milwaukee - practically locals - we found lots of new things to see and places to go that we will definitely re-visit on our next trip to Chicago. [View here]
We had a ball!
10/25/07 • Our tour leader really made the walk fun and interesting. Even after having lived in Chicago for many years, she shared some great places and fun commentary. I will recommend this tour to all my friends....and that is the real test. Go...you will love it. [View here]
Much Knowledge given
10/25/07 • Our tour guide had a great deal of knowledge about the city that focused on other areas outside of restaurants, she was an enthusiastic individual who paid a great deal attention to each patron. The variety of the stores and restaurants were fantastic and surprising... The walk was fantastic and educational, I would recommend the tour to anybody who was interested in learning about Chicago, and for the money a great buy... [View here]
Great start to a wonderful time in Chicago
10/23/07 • I signed up to take the tour on the first full day I was in Chicago. The size of the group was perfect...all women. We walked, talked, laughed and ate our way through our 3 hour tour. Our guide was very good and told us interesting stories and facts about the city as we walked through the various neighborhoods. What was nice about the tour was that I went into shops I might not otherwise have gone. At each stop the shop owner/employee spoke to us about their store and handed out samples... [View here]
Fantastic!!!
10/23/07 • I really enjoyed my tour and highly recommend it for anyone!! Our guide was terrific!! He was very nice and informative. He pointed out so many interesting highlights of the neighborhoods and told us many interesting Chicago stories. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and makes the tour so interesting and enjoyable! He was very accommodating and helpful with anything we asked. Everything was well organized and there were no glitches at all. All-in-all one of my most memorable Chicago experiences!!! Keep up the good work!!!... I will take this tour again and the next time bring my camera!! There are a lot of good photo opportunities!! [View here]

Fun, taste treats, informative, and good exercise
10/21/07 • It was a great way to spend a beautiful fall day in Chicago. The guide was great - personable, knowledgeable, focused on us having a good time. Enjoyed all the stops and the food. Loved walking through such neat areas of the city... I would definitely take another tour with your company and hope that you will keep me informed of up and coming events. [View here]
we had a blast!
10/21/07 • This was truly a remarkable experience. We had a great group of about 14 total and a beautiful day to walk the neighborhoods of Chicago. I will keep my list of restaurants handy, many I have already been to but some I have not and I look forward to exploring. I do plan on purchasing some gifts (and some items for myself) from a number of the shops we visited. I particularly liked the 18 year aged vinegar and of course, the chocolate samples. The historical sites and the fun facts regarding real estate and the various changes that these neighborhoods went through were fascinating. I was born in Chicago, grew up in the suburbs and visit the city often, yet I learned a LOT! I would love to explore additional neighborhoods/establishments... [View here]
good family activity

best walking tour ever!!
10/19/07 • My wife and I have been to Chicago many times, but had never taken a guided tour of the city. The description of the tour sounded great (we are both foodies), so we enthusiastically signed up. The tour itself was better than either of us had imagined. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, both about the places we specifically visited and about Chicago in general. The tastings were also amazing--the types of food were very diverse (from spices and oils to pizza and chocolate) and overall very filling (no dinner afterwards!). However, even if you are not really into the specific food tastings during the tour, this tour provides a great overview of where to find some of the city's best restaurants that are often overlooked by tourists as well as gives a better intro to the history of some of Chicago's neighborhoods then you will get on some other neighborhood walking tours. I would extremely, greatly, highly recommend this tour to anyone!! The only warning I have is that after taking this tour, all other Chicago historical walking tours will seem boring and bland! [View here]
excellent tour
10/16/07 • The tour was even more interesting than we anticipated. The tour guide was informative and entertaining. We especially enjoyed the oil and vinegar shop. It was a place that we may not have sought out on our own. We also enjoyed the time spent at the spice shop. It was a very good mix of food and history. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Chicago area. [View here]

Excellent tour of out-of-the-way establishments
10/13/07 • As a couple new to the Chicago area, we went on the tour to get a better sense of some of the more out of the way neighborhoods and restaurants. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting with historical and fun details. We loved the choice of establishments that we visited and even returned to them to make purchases after the tour was over. We've already recommended the tour to friends who enthusiastically want to take the tour themselves. In fact, we're going downtown on Sat. with a couple who want to visit the oil and spice shops we visited. Several people were disappointed they hadn't heard of the tour before, so get the word out! It's a hit! [View here]
A different way to "Taste" Chicago
10/13/07 • The tour was engaging, tasteful and lots of fun. Our guide was entertaining and used lots of humor. I learned a lot about the neighborhoods that we walked through and got some exercise too. I look forward to "tasting" other neighborhoods in the future. [View here]

10/09/07 • My husband and I chose to spend a couple extra days in Chicago while I attended a conference. Wanting something to do that we both enjoy, we opted to try and find something for foodies. We were both very pleased with the tour and the stops... [View here]
this tour was delicious and informative
10/08/07 • My friend and I really enjoyed the Food Tasting and Walking Tour. Our guide was engaging, knowledgable, and a lot of fun. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get an "off the beaten" path tour of Chicago. My only regret is that we couldn't do the tour on our first day there to take advantage of all the restaurant recommendations! [View here]
Fun walk with interesting stops, good for foodies
10/08/07 • We had a great time.... went with our two young (7 & 9 yrs old) sons and visiting relatives. We enjoyed all the stops (especially the spice store and olive oil store), the boys loved all the chocolate... Our tour guide did a good job of pointing out the sites and educating us on cinnamon and tea... [View here]
Learn Chicago and food
10/08/07 • I had a fantastic experience. I was in Chicago for six days and my only regret was not taking the tour on the first day so I could experience some of the Great places to eat. The tour was not only informative about Chicago, but also about the food and the history of it. Of all the things I did, this was my favorite. [View here]
great time

Unique and enjoyable experience
10/06/07 • My daughter and both I enjoy cooking (and eating) and we were looking for something different to do while in Chicago for the weekend. This tour fit the bill perfectly. Our tour guide was enthusiastic, friendly and very knowledgable. We enjoyed the variety of different shops and restaurants and seeing neighborhoods that we hadn't seen on previous trips to Chicago. Our guide kept the tour moving at a nice pace, but we never felt like we were rushed through any of the stops. We went back to several of the shops, after the tour, to purchase the items we had sampled and are looking forward to trying them out at home. A friend of mine was also on the tour with us and the 3 of us couldn't stop talking about how much we enjoyed the day. I would highly recommend this tour. [View here]
excellent tour
10/05/07 • The tour was everything I had hoped it would be, our guide was very friendly and knowledgable. Each stop was great with more than enough samples of food. It was very interesting hearing of the different places and also the architecture and different sites along the way. I would highly recommend this tour. [View here]
